Editors note: This is the seventh in a 10-day series featuring cars to be sold September 24-26 during Barrett-Jackson’s Las Vegas auction.

The build for this 1955 Chevrolet Nomad began in April 2012, starting with a Southern California-raised rust-free car that was retired to a garage in 1973. This vehicle presents all-original sheet metal, including all floors, with a replacement recessed firewall for modern engine and transmission fusion.

The body was sanded to bare metal and finished professionally, with filler used only for perfection leveling. All interior surfaces were treated with a rust inhibitor and Dynamat Extreme was applied to all floors, doors and interior roof.

Pacific Sunset Fusion Orange graces the exterior of the vehicle and contains five extra-fine metallic colors and two colors of pearl, making this blend absolutely stunning on a laser-straight body.

The chassis is a Roadster Shop Pro Ride Phase 3, so it will set low but handle and ride as if it were running at normal height. The car also features Heidts Super Ride 3 front and rear suspension for performance handling and a smooth ride, with QA1 three-stage coilovers. The chassis was powder-coated Gunmetal Grey along with all suspension components for easy clean-up after driving.

Powering the classic Nomad is a 2002 Corvette pro-built all-aluminum 5.7-liter that after a recent dyno tune now produces 386hp at the wheels and 435hp at the flywheel. The transmission is a 4L60E that was pro-built to support the additional horsepower and torque.

A Moser Super Track differential with Strange 32 spline axles handles the massive torque requirements. U.S. Mag Bandit 18×8 front wheels with Nitto Extreme 225x40ZR18 tires and 20×10 rear wheels with Nitto Extreme 265x35ZR20 tires. Wilwood 14-inch slotted and drilled rotors with 6-piston calipers up front and Wilwood 13-inch slotted and drilled rotors with 4-piston calipers and internal e-brake drums.

The interior is custom using Glide Engineering front and rear frame and custom-wrapped in a pleather vinyl. Carpets are German wool carpets with special polished stainless strips to protect the cargo area, so packages can be loaded without soiling or damaging the carpet.
