Track events, demo days set at museums this weekend

Today, August 7, “Just Track It” will run on the full 3.15-mile course with the track day event at the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park  in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Today, August 7, “Just Track It” will run on the full 3.15-mile course with the track day event at the National Corvette Museum Motorsports Park  in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The open track event is set to allow all driving levels multiple 30-minute sessions on the track. Instruction via in-car coaching followed by classroom sessions will be provided to all novice drivers. The cost to participate in the event is $275.

Additionally, the NCM Motorsports Park is sponsoring a High Performance Drivers Education event September 3-4. All track -appropriate vehicles are welcome to participate in the event. However, convertibles must have an SCCA-approved roll bar, and all participants must have an SA rated helmet, long pants and closed toe shoes.

“Alfa’s Back!” Is the theme of the next demo day, Saturday, August 8, at the Simeone Foundation Automotive Museum in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The cars featured in the demo day highlight some of Alfa Romeos greatest cars, a 1925 RL SS, 1934 8C 2300 MM Spyder, 1937 8C 2900A.

Other upcoming events at the museum include a kickstart launch part for the new Classic Motorcycles exhibit that will run from August 15 to September 11. The exhibit will feature BMW, police motorcycles and motorcycles used in land-speed records. August 23 will be the museum’s first  on- day Elite Tunner show. Over 200 of the best tuner cars from across the country will grace the museums three acer parking lot, with 20 of the hottest VIP cars indoor alongside the museums 65 car collection.

In Sacramento, California, the California Automobile Museum will host a class from 9:00 a.m. to noon, Saturday, August 22 so enthusiasts will be able to go over the art of automotive photography and different methods to get great photos. September 19 is the date for a Model A basics and driving class at the museum. The class will go over the cars history, and give participants the chance to drive one around.

September 5, the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum, located in Auburn, Indiana, hosts its 10th annual “Connecting Rods Luncheon” for all former employees of the Auburn Automobile Company or Duesenberg, Inc. and their family and friends. The Cord 810/812 and Studebaker Avanti are the focus of this year’s luncheon and a special presentation will be given by the museum’s director of education and archives, Jon Bill.

Save the date for Saturday, October 17 as the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum in Pamona, California, stages a “tribute to the Can-Am 2015” event. The  celebration of the Canadian-American Challenge Cup and includes dinner, movies, slide photographs, and a presentation by Can-Am author and historian, Pete Lyons. Drivers and other significant patrons of the era will have a panel discussion along with an autograph session. Attendance is limited to 100 people, tickets are available online.
