Gilmore opens ‘Mid-Century Performance’ gallery

Today, June 5, the Gilmore Car Museum stages a special presentation by Art Fitzpatrick, automotive artist, in honor of the art gallery and its next exhibition, “Mid-Century Performance.” Fitzpatrick has produced everything from automotive design to stamps.

Other upcoming events at the Gilmore, in Hickory Corners, Michigan, include:

  • Classic Car Club of America Grand Experience – June 7,
  • Zvintage Motorcycle Show & Swap meet – June 14,
  • All Air-Cooled Car Show – June 20,
  • Antique Tractor, engine, and machinery show – June 26-28

On Saturday, June 6, the Walter P. Chrysler Museum in Auburn Hills, Michigan will host its 26th annual charity car show benifiting a local chapter of Leader Dogs for the Blind. The theme is “jet age of automotive design” and will also celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Chrysler 300. To RSVP visit the museum’s website.

At the Lane Motor Museum enthusiast are encouraged to attend Museum Fun Day this Saturday, June 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Visitors will be able to view the museums “basement” collection and view the newest exhibit showcasing 60 years of french automotive history.

The Blackhawk Automotive Museum‘s First Sunday ‘Cars & Coffee’ will be this coming Sunday, June 7. Officially starting at 8:00 a.m. and going through 10:00 a.m. car owners and car aficionados will be greeted with coffee at the Blackhawk Museum Plaza

The National Automobile Museum in Reno, Nevada is hosting its first Science Saturday on June 13. The series will consist of seven dynamic programs including the invention of space travel, robotic spacecraft from Hubble to new horizons (July 11), animal astronauts on space mobiles (August 8), rovers on the moon, Mars and beyond (September 12), mobile medicine in the space age (October 10), science fact and fiction in space exploration (November 14), and Christmas in space (December 12).

Enthusiasts have a chance to drive in a parade around the 17-turn race track at the Barber Motorsports Park located at the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum in Birmingham, Alabama, on June 20. To participate, you must have a Barber tag. If you don’t have one and want one, the tag is $50 and tax deductible.

America’s Car Museum has some father day events planned. Starting June 15 the LeMay will have a special golf cart display. Fathers can enjoy a complimentary beverage and take home a gift. On June 16, the Le May will pop the hood of 100 carefully selected cars as part of their “hoods up for Father’s day” display. The Wheels and Heels annual gala, this year with a Kentucky Derby theme, is June 26. The celebration of horsepower will include a barbershop quartet, champagne service, raffles and a silent auction.

Other upcoming events at the LeMay include Griots Garage 25th Anniversary meet on June 6. There will be 25 years of “cover cars’ at the event along with free coffee, donuts and a food truck. June 11 is a cruise in.

The National Corvette Museum has scheduled a special exhibit to pay homage to NASCAR and celebrate the early roots of moonshine running to today’s billion-dollar industry. The exhibit will include 14 cars used either for racing or to run moonshine. The exhibit remains open till September. Other upcoming NCM events include:

  • Le Mans viewing party – June 13-14,
  • NCM Cruise to Greece and Italy – June 20-27,
  • MiM Bloomington Gold trip – June 23-29,
  • VIR HPDE June 29-30.
